TV One Throws After Party for DNC Convention: Michael Eric Dyson Dances!

I was watching “Dirty Laundry” (an excellent movie by the way) on TV One last night when to my surprise and shock I see Michael Eric Dyson getting his dance on in a promo for TV One’s “The DNC After Party”. TV One is providing live coverage of the Democratic National Convention this month, and I guess this after party is some sort of lightweight show that occurs after all that heavy political stuff at the convention.

Also featured in the promo are Dyson’s wife, Marcia Dyson, Jacquie Reid (formerly of BET News and now on the Tom Joyner Morning Show), Jamie Foster-Brown of Sister 2 Sister Magazine, and Paul Wharton who is some sort fashion expert. Here’s the promo:

I’m a big admirer of Dr. Dyson, I was avid fan of his talk show, and I saw him speak when he came to the Black Expo this year in Charleston. But dancing in a promo for a political convention??? Really??? You are suppose to be a serious scholar and cultural critic and you dancing in some commercial like you’re Usher? Well, maybe the Usher comparison is a bit much, but you know what I mean. And what must the faculty and staff at Georgetown University think of a fellow academian, getting his groove on in a commercial. And Dr. Dyson isn’t the only one getting their dance on, Jacquie Reid who is suppose to be a serious journalist , and Dr. Dyson’s wife, Marcia who is a REVEREND. The other two in the commerical–Jamie Foster-Brown and Paul Wharton are in the entertainment business so their participation isn’t surprising.

And why is TV One having an “After Party” show for a political convention? I mean really, this is not the Grammys, its the Democratic National Convention! They are officially nominating the first black Presidential candidate. There has been hint of Hillary Clinton supporters trying start some mess and TV One is throwing an after party???? And why must negroes always dance in a commercial, tv show intro, etc. I bet you won’t see Katie Couric or Brian Williams jigging it up to advertise their convention coverage. I’m really surprised by TV One, this seems more like something BET would do. I vote TRY AGAIN TV One.

But Can He Recite The Alphabet?

An Open Letter to "Miss Scarlett"

Dear Miss Scarlett:

Shady doesn’t even begin to describe your actions today. For the last few months I’ve worked as the main writer for a project you lead. Each step in the writing process — from outline to first draft, I’ve adhered to your suggestions without question. The way the document flows has come from your edits. And each time you’ve changed your mind about how things should be organized. Some of your suggestions didn’t make sense, but I tried to work with it, because I figured you knew what was best for our readers. However, now that the final draft has been released, you changed your mind once again and again, I will comply. But this time you threw shade in my direction by complaining to the Bossman about my work. Of course you leave out details of your complicity in the end product. But don’t worry I let Bossman know what’s up. I also understand he corrected you on a few things that you assumed were to be done. Now I am not arrogant enough to say that I’m the best at what I do — and I agree that the document could have used more copyediting– but I do know my job and I am good at what I do.

What bothers me the most about your actions is that you didn’t even come to me first about your concerns so that I could clear up your misconceptions and possibly work out in kinks in the process. No you decided to try and call me out and make me look incompetent. That’s cool, Bossman was not impressed by your neurotic nitpicking. If was a different kind of negress, you would have heard a few things from me unbecoming a lady. But Rubylena taught me how to be a good corporate negress and play the game. So yeah, I came to you all smiling and expressing concern about your “issues”. But know this Miss Scarlett, it AIN’T ALL GOOD. And so I will keep smiling but all the while I’ll be singing the words written by my man Ice Cube.

Today’s Bitchassness Award Goes to……Bob Johnson (AGAIN)

The first and only time I issued this award it went to Bob “Tap Dancing Lawn Jockey Coon” Johnson, it was because he co-signed on Geraldine Ferrarro’s racist rants about Barack Obama. Well Johnson’s at again, this time he’s trying to get Miss Hillary to be Obama’s VP. He’s even trying to get the Congressional Black Caucus to pressure Obama to put her on the ticket. Here’s a copy of the letter he wrote to MY state Congressman, James Clyburn:

Dear Jim:

Now that you have endorsed Senator Obama as the Presidential Nominee of the Democratic Party; I, as a long-time supporter of Senator Clinton and of the Democratic Party, urge you to do everything possible to unify this party to win the Presidential election in November. For me and millions of other Democrats, I believe that the most important step that you can take now is to encourage the Congressional Black Caucus to urge Senator Obama to select Senator Hillary Clinton as his Vice Presidential running mate.

As a businessman I understand the vitally important role that a Democratic President can play in establishing programs and policies throughout the government that stimulate and support economic opportunities for African Americans. As African Americans we agree that the stakes in this election are far too high to take any chances that this party will not be unified from the top to the bottom in our effort to gain control of The White House.

You know as well as I the deep affection that millions of African Americans hold for both Senator Clinton and President Clinton. You also know that Hillary Clinton has been a long-term advocate for racial and gender equality, from her early days as a lawyer with the Children Defense Fund to her prominent leadership roles on these issues as First Lady and as Senator from New York. But most important, we need to have the certainty of winning; and, I believe, without question, that Barack Obama as President and Hillary Clinton as Vice President bring that certainty to the ticket.

Jim, as the highest ranking African American in Congress, I encourage you to follow your commitment to build a unified party by helping to make this a historic election of Senators Obama and Clinton who both have demonstrated that they have the courage and the ability to inspire and lead this nation to greatness today and for years in the future.

I hope Congressman Clyburn gave that ridiculous letter the disrespect it deserves and set it on fire. And watch here as “Toby” taps dances for Hillary on CNN. This negro had the nerve to say Obama’s win was “greater than the Emancipation Proclamation”.

As the staff over at Bossip says, “HO SIT DOWN!” You have no credibility Bob, and for continuing to play Miss Hillary’s personal lawn jockey, you get today’s Bitchassness award. As Debarge use to say “You Wear It Well”.

Hillary Puts the Final Nail in the Coffin

Hillary Clinton essentially ended her campaign today and ruined any chance she had of becoming VP by invoking Robert Kennedy’s assassination to defend her decision to stay in the race. Speaking to the editorial board of the Sioux Falls Argus Leader about calls to drop out of the race, Miss Hillary said:

“My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. You know I just, I don’t understand it.”

Now no one believes Miss Hillary is hoping something bad will happen to Barack Obama (like assassination) so she can win the Democratic nomination, but referring to assassinations with a Black man running for President is in really bad taste. And in light of Ted Kennedy recently being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, and June being the 40th anniversary of Robert Kennedy’s assassination, Miss Hillary really put her foot in it.

The so-called apology:

“I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation and in particular the Kennedy family was in any way offensive. I certainly had no intention of that whatsoever.”
What about Barack Obama??? I notice he isn’t mentioned in this non-apology apology. So Miss Hillary didn’t mean to offend the Kennedy family, but Obama on the other hand….

But leave it to MSNBC’s Keith Olberman to put the verbal smackdown on Miss Hillary. His special comment tonight was blistering to say the least.

Faking a Death to Avoid Paying Bills?

This unbelievable story, happened right here in my hometown of North Charleston, SC. To keep the bill collectors at bay, Melanie Grant submitted a fake obituary to a funeral home that was published in the local newspaper The Post and Courier. In the obituary, Melanie Grant said her daughter Melissa Grant a US Airforce officer was killed in Iraq. The problem is not only didn’t Melissa Grant die and was not a US Airforce officer, Melissa Grant DOES NOT EVEN EXIST!!!! From The Post and Courier:

Melanie Grant, 39, said she thought she could buy time with creditors if she told them her daughter had died. A paid obituary published Thursday and Friday in The Post and Courier stated Lt. Melissa Hope Grant, 24, died May 11 in Iraq. “I just made it up. Honestly, I don’t know what I was thinking,” a tearful Melanie Grant said. A photograph accompanied the obituary. Grant said she tore the photo from the pages of a bridal magazine.

This is who the obit named as the relatives of the imaginary Melissa Grant:

“…the beloved daughter of Mrs. Melody Grant and Mr. Michael “Candy” King,step-daughter of the late Mr. Marcus Grant; sister of Kelondria Pendergrath, Kelvin Pendergrath, Raheem Brown, Akhaeem Brown, and Becole “Cola” Scales; granddaughter of Mrs. Darnell Grant and Mr.Henry “Muffin” King; niece of Shirline Denise Wright, Quindella “Que” Simmons, Meka Butler, and Marvin “Butter” Myers; cousin of Xavier D. Stewart, Sr., Karin L. Bland and Mercedes A. Jones.”

Take a good look at those names. Now here is the picture that was printed in the paper as “Melissa” that was taken from a bridal magazine.

Now Ms. Grant’s race wasn’t mentioned in the article but names like Kelondria, Raheem, Akhaeem, Becole, Quindellla, and Shirline don’t necessarily conjure up images of white folks. If anyone knows any white people by those names please email me. Apparently the funeral home director never met the mother and only spoke to her on the phone. He did meet with two women who claimed they were the aunts of “Melissa”. Maybe he thought the white girl in the picture was biracial, adopted, or REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, light-skinned.

Ms. Grant claims to be on disability and raising two grandchildren and one stepgrandchild. However, Ms. Grant has a criminal record (Of course) that includes convictions on “loitering for the purpose of prostitution” and a pending fradulent check charge.

I am sorry to hear about Ms. Grant’s financial difficulties, but claiming your imaginary child died in the Iraq war just to get out of paying some bills is taking it a bit too far.(source)

Angelina, Fix That Child’s Hair!

While I admire Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s for adopting a child of African decent, Angie gets the side-eye for allowing her daughter Zahara to walk around in public looking like Buckwheat. I thought the Jolie-Pitts were down with Carol’s Daughter? They haven’t learned to put a comb through that child’s hair yet? All that money and they can’t take little Zahara to a black hair dresser to give her some braids, ponytails or something!! As a mother of a two-year-old, I know how hard it can be to get a toddler to sit still to do their hair, but dang!!! You don’t have to let the child go out looking crazy! Maybe Angie and Brad need to get some black friends to teach them how to do black hair. I’m sure Will and Jada would be willing to help. Check out these photos I saw on Just Jared. This is just all sorts of wrong!
