The Nominee?

Posted by Kim S. on May 7, 2008

After Barack Obama’s landslide victory in North Carolina last night, and Miss Hillary barely winning in Indiana (Clinton 51% Obama 49%), some in the media have pretty much said Obama is the nominee. Check out the Drudge Report’s headline:

The Huffington Post

And listen to Tim Russert on MSNBC last night….

I think its time to call it a wrap.

Shut Em Down!

‘North Carolina! C’mon and raise up Take your shirt off, twist it ’round yo’ hand Spin it like a helicopter.’ — “Raise Up” by Petey Pablo

Barack Obama has just been declared the winner of the North Carolina primary! My home state represented. He whooped Miss Hillary’s tail by 24 points (62% to 38%). And he’s closing on her lead in Indiana — Obama 47%, Clinton 53%. There are still precincts in Indiana (with large black populations) that still haven’t reported their results. Even if Obama doesn’t win but loses by a very small margin, at what point is Miss Hillary gonna give up the ghost? She cannot overtake him in delegates or the popular vote. If the goal is to get a Democrat in the office, its better for the party that she walk away graciously and allow the nominee (Obama) to focus on the general election. We all lose (Democrats) if Miss Hllary tries steal the nomination and causes all hell to break loose at the Democratic Convention. At some point, Miss Hillary, you gotta be a team player.

UPDATE: At 10:50 pm., with 87% of the precincts reporting, Hillary Clinton closed in on Barack Obama’s lead in NC — 56% to 42%. However, Obama’s lead is still in double digits.
